But we do more than seek shelter in times of trouble. We dwell. That is, we put down our family’s roots right in the midst of His trustworthiness, at the heart of his protective custody. Dwelling there will ensure our safety from these night-time attacks, these arrows coming at us through the air. Dwelling is permanency, God willing, in the best of the good times as well as the sorrow-filled and stress-filled times of death. We stick there with God, as our refuge, and, even more so, as our life, dumping all our trust and hope for the future on him.
Then, look out! We get this awesome direct promise from the Lord himself. He will rescue us, he will answer us when we call, he will deliver us when in trouble–all well and good, but here’s the kicker: His acts of satifying us and revealing to us his salvation will go on forever in this dwelling place.
